Smart Building Conference explores digital transformation

The day before ISE 2015 opens, delegates will have the have the chance to join Europe’s leading experts on smart rooms, smart buildings, and smart homes at the 3rd annual Smart Building Conference.

Early-bird delegate registration is now open.

The Smart Building Conference, produced by ISE in association with InfoComm International and CEDIA, will offer practical insight into the future of the AV business in a networked world. Taking place in the RAI exhibition centre on 9 February, the full-day conference will combine plenary sessions and twin tracks that cover both residential and commercial smart building.

The founder and CEO of Oblong Industries, John Underkoffler (main picture), will present on workplace collaboration. His well-known work at MIT served as the basis for the futuristic displays seen in the Tom Cruise film Minority Report, and delegates will see his latest vision of the future in Amsterdam.

According to Bob Snyder, conference chairman and Editor of Channel Media Europe, the Smart Building Conference “will cover the digital disruption forcing change in the building industry – the same change we saw as AV migrated from analogue to digital.” He continued: “The transformation to a digital backbone of control in buildings changes the environment that AV operates in – and even offers some new business opportunity to AV integrators.”

Other featured speakers include Rogier van der Heide (pictured right), an international award-winning lighting designer and TEDx speaker who will address how lighting is becoming smarter. Leading architect and industry maverick Paul Fletcher will share the architect’s viewpoint.

The Smart Home has its own content track. Top executives at KNX, Z-Wave Alliance and ZigBee will all add their perspectives. The ULE Alliance will discuss their new standard for connecting devices in the home. And a former Apple executive will bring his take on ‘What’s on Apple’s Home Page?’.

Two additionally featured topics will include Internet of Things (IoT) and communications in public spaces.

Smart Building Conference also brings delegates the opportunity to meet and network with other forward-facing organisations.
