Slim subs and cost-conscious speakers in show debut

Two new slim subwoofers and an entry-level in-ceiling speaker line are making a debut appearance from Triad.

The custom speaker manufacturer said the new InRoom and OnWall Bronze SlimSub build upon the performance of its InWall Bronze/4 SlimSub. Each Bronze SlimSub is paired with Triad’s 350W outboard amplifier, the RackAmp 350 DSP.

Measuring 4.4in from the wall and available in custom colours, the OnWall Bronze SlimSub can be matched to ultra-flat TVs using soundbars. The InRoom Bronze SlimSub meanwhile stands upright at 4.3in deep, but when laid down (requiring 5.1in of height clearance) it becomes a down-firing subwoofer that can be hidden under furniture.

Each of the Triad SlimSubs utilises a proprietary long-throw 10in aluminium driver. All provide deep bass at high volumes — achieving a maximum output of 108dB from 40-80Hz with a bass extension of -3dB at 28Hz.

Triad is also bringing out a cost-effective in-ceiling loudspeaker line, the R-Series. Three models are available: the R-25 (5.25in driver), R-26 (6.5in) and R-28 (8.5in). Each is a shallow-depth, open-back, two-way loudspeaker system that provides full-range sound.

The R-Series speakers incorporate Triad’s improved paintable micro-perf grill, which is provided with both a round and square plastic trim bezel, offering integrators added flexibility.
