Sharp goes large with launch of first 4K Big Pad

The Big Pad, an interactive display with a 4K LCD touch panel, is being launched at ISE by Sharp. The 70in 4K Big Pad (PN-70TH5) adds to Sharp’s range of displays for sharing information in meetings and lessons, the company stated. It will be on sale this month.

Sharp claims the Big Pad makes it easy to view large amounts of detailed information, such as technical drawings, maps or spreadsheets. Special features support working with content at Ultra-HD resolution; 4K reading is supported by Sharp’s unique UV2A screen technology for high contrast and image clarity, and 4K writing is supported by a range of features including palm rejection, so the user’s palm does not make marks on the screen when they are writing, using a modified pen with a 2mm tip for precision.

Sid Stanley, general manager, visual solutions at Sharp, said: “With our unique experience we understand the needs of our customers. Selecting the right interactive whiteboard to suit your needs should be a considered decision. Not all interactive whiteboards are made equal.

“To highlight why interactive whiteboards should be carefully chosen, consider the important role they play in the meeting room,” added Stanley. “Meetings take up a lot of time – 17 hours a month for every worker in the UK according to our research – so they need to be as productive as possible. Across Europe, there is a demand for meetings to be more engaging, more inclusive, and more productive, and Sharp is offering a range of easy-to-use tools that deliver the benefits of better decision making and collaboration.”

New research from Sharp found that the average office worker attends 21 meetings a month, totalling 17 hours of their time, but a staggering 85% said they would have been more productive at their desks.

At ISE, Sharp is also previewing its 8K ecosystem, including a demonstration of its new 8K professional camcorder and 8K display.
