The Beast is claimed to be “the ultimate luxury audio server” for the discerning listener, created by ReQuest Audio Switzerland for the high-end integration market.

It uses a digital-to-analogue converter from MSB Technology to decode DSD (Direct-Stream Digital) as well as 32-bit/ 386MHz music files.

The server features “the most accurate clocks” to reduce jitter, and uses a new, specially developed Blur power supply, and a fan-less design for silent running.

Operation and control is via the 7in touchscreen using especially developed Linux software. This makes it possible to use the unit without WiFi, or to integrate The Beast into a home network, add network-attached storage and use any mobile device, such as an iPad or Android, to control the media server (it can also be controlled via RS232).

The Beast will rip all files to FLAC or WAV, and add music to a user’s database with a NAS. It has an internal SSD (up to 2TB), which can be expanded with NAS drives.

The system can also be expanded with a Media Player, while the addition of ReQuest MP in the network will allow users to enjoy video.
