PoE module from Silvertel is smallest available

According to manufacturer Silvertel, the Ag9900-LP is smallest PoE Powered Device (PD) currently available, and the company is showing it off at ISE.

The Ag9900-LP is the low-profile member of the Ag9900 family of PoE modules with a height of under 8mm, and a footprint of 14mm x 21mm. The new module is targeted at the next generation of IoT applications and products that require low power PoE in as small a package as possible. The module still provides the complete solution, the company says, which includes the PoE signature, 1.5KV isolation and DC-to-DC conversion to 12V, 5V and 3.3V. The Ag9900-LP requires only three external low cost components – two diode bridges and an electrolytic capacitor.

The Ag9900 is offered in three versions. The -M version is a standard IEEE802.3af compliant surface mount module, while the -MT is a standard plus industrial temperature surface mount module; LP – same PoE standard with Low profile (less than 8mm high).

The Ag9900 family is said to be ideal for space-constrained PoE applications such as IP phones, wall mount appliances, IP cameras, thermostats, smoke detectors and room sensors, and for a range of new IoT and building automation sensors and devices.
