ISE 2014: Planar debuts new UltraRes 4K display

ISE 2014 will see the European debut of Planar Systems' new 84in UltraRes display, featuring edge-lit LED and passive cooling technologies.

ISE 2014 witnesses the European debut for Planar System’s new 84in UltraRes display product line designed for ultra-high resolution collaborative commercial, academic and government applications.

Launched in 2013, the new Planar UltraRes 4K display provides native 3840 x 2160 resolution and a range of configurations. It features LED-lit LCD technology with edge-lit LED technology and passive cooling, selectable dynamic contrast and local dimming for enhanced contrast.

It’s pitched at professionals in a wide variety of commercial industries who require a large viewing area, with very high pixel density to allow teams to collaborate around more immersive and detailed visual information.

The UltraRes 84in is likely to find a home in the energy, geospatial, engineering and design, architecture, aerospace, control room, collaborative conference room, medical imaging, science and digital signage arenas, among others.

The displays supports a 60Hz refresh rate and 10-bit colour, feature a slim metal bezel, a wide range of digital connectivity options and incorporate failover power supply for 24×7 environments. They have lockable, front service access and the company’s Profile Mounting System delivers a slim profile of around 3in when wall-mounted. The Planar Profile Tiling Kit allows the horizontal tiling of multiple Planar UltraRes displays.

The UltraRes displays come in three base models: the UR8450-LX 2D landscape display is aimed at conference and control rooms; the UR8450-MX 2D landscape and portrait, higher brightness model is designed for digital signage and other higher ambient light environments; and the UR8450-3D 2D and 3D landscape support is focused on decision rooms where both 2D and 3D images and video are viewed.
