New Nexo DTD delivers advanced speaker control

Designed to partner the company’s PS Series full-range compact cabinet as well as its GEO M6 arrayable systems, the new DTD Digital TD Controller from Nexo is said to deliver advanced speaker control processing, taken from the Nexo NXAMP, in a compact, rack-mounting device.

According to the Nexo, it is the first digital controller to combine the sonic quality of the NXAMP together with compatibility with amplifiers from other manufacturers, making Nexo speaker configurations more affordable and accessible in a wide range of applications.

There are two versions – one for touring and one for installation – and both have the option to add a Dante input. Both versions are housed in the same low-depth rack-mount case with a universal power supply. The touring version has analogue input and output connectors (XLR and Speakon) on the front: the install version has all the connectors on the back panel, and a mini-USB on the front, which can be used to update firmware and download new presets. Audio can be streamed directly from any computer or smartphone, for easy sound check or background music playback.

The unit includes AES/EBU input (with sample rate converter from 44.1kHz to 96kHz) on all versions as well as optional connectivity to the Dante network. The DTD can also be used as an analogue or AES to Dante input box.

Typical applications include bands, bars, DJs, and small rental companies, that want a compact and easy-to-use product that has a high standard of sound quality. The fact that the unit can be operated without a computer will appeal to such users, says Nexo.
