Magewell presents Pro Capture Family

Pro Capture Family capture cards are being showcased at ISE by Magewell.

The cards are designed for developers and professional AV applications. A PCIe 2.0 high-speed interface is used to maximise performance, doubling the rate of data transmission compared to the first generation capture cards, with actual rates of between 400Mbps and 1600Mbps.

“ISE has always been an exciting event for Magewell because it is a great opportunity to show our products and share thoughts on the development of A/V industry,” stated Gloria Cai, marketing group leader at Magewell. “We meet existing clients and business partners at ISE to enhance cooperation and amaze new clients with our products. This year we are proud to present the new capture cards, Pro Capture Family. Although Magewell dongles have always been the users’ favorite, we are sure that the new cards will draw much attention from the visitors.”

The Pro Capture cards support NVIDIA GPUDirect and AMD DirectGMA technology. Captured data is transferred directly from the video engine to the graphics memory. This process is done entirely by FPGA, without the use of the CPU.

“The frame rate is always a big issue for users, because if it is reduced after the video is captured, the smooth movement cannot be retained,” added Cai. “The output frame rate Magewell Pro Capture cards can when capturing 1080p 60Hz 8-bit 4:4:4 is 63.9 fps.”

Magewell Pro Capture cards have a super-low processing and transmission latency down to 64 video lines. The capture latency of 1080p 60Hz and YUY2 can be lower than 1ms.
Pro Capture Family cards run stably on Windows and Linux and Magewell plans to make it compatible with Mac OS X soon.
