Helping integrators and end-users cost-efficiently transition to Video over IP, Magewell’s Pro Convert family of NDI encoders is debuting at ISE 2019. Designed to bring live, traditional video signals into IP-based AV infrastructures using NewTek’s royalty-free NDI technology, four Pro Convert models provide standalone, plug-and-play on-ramps from HDMI or SDI sources to NDI media networks.
Nick Ma, CEO and CTO at Magewell, said: “The use of live, IP-based media transport has become an integral part of professional AV workflows, giving customers massive flexibility while helping reduce deployment costs. NDI has been one of the key enabling technologies driving this transition. While some new products such as cameras support NDI directly, many customers want to use their current equipment in Video-over-IP architectures. The Pro Convert family offers robust and easy-to-use solutions to connect existing sources to NDI-enabled networks, systems and software.”
Two 4K and two HD models give users a choice of input connectivity and encoding resolution. The Pro Convert HDMI 4K Plus transforms sources up to 4K UHD at full 60 frames per second into full-bandwidth NDI streams from an HDMI 2.0 input interface, while the Pro Convert SDI 4K Plus converts 6G-SDI signals up to 4K at 30fps. The Pro Convert SDI Plus and Pro Convert HDMI Plus encode NDI streams up to 1080p60 HD from SDI or HDMI inputs, respectively, with the latter also accepting a 4Kp60 HDMI input and down-converting it automatically to HD for encoding.
“All four models feature extremely low latency and are truly plug-and-play,” added Ma.
