ISE 2014: Stealth Acoustics to make a splash with StingRay 6

The new StingRay 6 from Stealth Acoustics can operate underwater and withstand the worst weather.

Stealth Acoustics’ new StingRay 6 hermetically Sealed Speaker, which is the latest and smallest addition to StingRay range of outdoor speakers, will be on show at ISE 2014.

The loudspeaker has a 6in cone woofer coupled with a neodymium, high-power tweeter to create a true two-way speaker that is claimed to evenly radiate hemi-spherically at all frequencies from 50Hz to 18kHz. StingRay has no grills or other openings to allow the surrounding environment into the speaker. The product has already won the 2013 RESI award for Most Innovative Industrial Design.

“StingRay 6 is the latest iteration of our patented outdoor speaker line and fits a niche for a great sounding, extremely durable outdoor speaker in a smaller size,” commented Stealth’s president, Paul Hagman. “At only 15in wide, 7in tall and less than 4in in depth, StingRay 6 provides warm natural bass output along with our renowned high frequency sound qualities and wide coverage pattern. I think this is our best StingRay yet and winning the 2013 RESI award greatly validates our team’s efforts to create a unique outdoor speaker.”

It uses Stealth’s proprietary FidelityGlass solid-front radiating surface enclosed in a fibre-infused ASA plastic marine-grade enclosure, giving it an environmental protection rating of IP-68, and is supplied with a waterproof cable pigtail for maximum protection. StingRay is rated to be capable of operating underwater for up to 64 hours at 1m depth and can withstand rain, snow, sleet, hail, sun and dust in temperatures ranging from -18º to +65º.
The StingRay 6 comes in matt white or flat black, but may also be fully customised using paint or exterior vinyl graphics to blend into any architecture or design theme.
