intoPIX TICO: low latency, lossless compression

The company’s new TICO lightweight low latency lossless video compression is the topic of discussion with visitors to the intoPIX stand. Jean-Baptiste Lorent (pictured), intoPIX’s director of marketing and sales, is providing insight into what he believes are its benefits in efficiently and invisibly tackling important cost- and video bandwidth challenges in AV network infrastructure.

“TICO is enabling the industry’s first 100m single CatX cable solution extending UHD 4Kp60 4:4:4 video with USB 2.0 and 3.1 Gen 1,” said Lorent. “We’re showing how TICO has pushed the boundaries of today’s compression technology with a state-of-the-art, innovative codec assuring visual quality, keeping power and bandwidth at a reasonable budget and reducing significantly the complexity and cost of the infrastructure without adding any latency.”

According to Lorent, his company’s new compression technology provides lossless image quality and enables HD and UHD4K to be easily carried over low cost IP network infrastructure with a 1G or 10G interface, even in multi-stream configurations. On top of this, he added, its selectable latency down to only a few pixel lines ensures absolute real-time and instant operation.

intoPIX has submitted TICO to SMPTE and is, said Lorent, promoted by several AV manufacturers, some of who are also members of the TICO Alliance.
