Heading to ISE? Here’s our top picks of ‘must attend’ events you won’t want to miss

With just a few weeks to go until ISE 2018 in Amsterdam (February 6-9, RAI) kicks off, AVTE offers an overview of some of the must attend events for end users

The countdown is on! With just a few weeks to go until ISE 2018 in Amsterdam (February 6-9, RAI) kicks off, AVTE offers an overview of some of the must attend events for end users attending the show 

With more than 1,200 exhibitors, 15 halls, 55,000 square metres of floor space to cover (wear comfy shoes) its difficult to know where to turn when wandering around the RAI in Amsterdam.

With every every manufacturer stand vying for your attention as well as countless tours, conferences and press conferences taking place throughout – planning your day to ensure your time away from the office is well spent, is essential.

Seasoned ISE regulars will know this all too well and are likely to have filled their diaries (for during and post show) weeks or even months ago.

For those still on the fence about attending, or heading there still with an open mind, we’ve created a list of useful and educational events which may provide useful to you and your company when it comes to justifying your visit to your boss on your return. 

Monday, February 5th (for those arriving early)

SMART BUILDING CONFERENCE

Smart Building Conference (SBC) is the must-attend summit for professionals working in smart homes, smart offices, smart buildings and smart cities.

Taking place on the day before Integrated Systems Europe 2018 opens its doors, SBC is a one-day, twin track event that explores the latest technologies, business strategies, market research and workflow case studies through presentations from the world’s leading smart building experts and thought leaders.

The 2017 edition of SBC attracted over 400 delegates from both the commercial and residential smart home/building sectors. For 2018 the conference will also explore how smart technologies and business strategies are influencing the development of cities and urban planning.

The closing panel session will feature Carlo Ratti, the leading architect, engineer, inventor, professor and director at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Ratti will also present the ISE 2018 Opening Address which will follow the completion of SBC 2018.

AUDIO FORUM AT ISE

The Audio Forum conference takes place at the RAI Amsterdam on 5 February, the day before ISE 2018 opens. Audio Forum at ISE is a unique summit that brings together the pro audio and installation business communities to focus on integrated technologies and workflows.

The annual Audio Forum at ISE will explore one of the professional audio industry’s most compelling topic areas – Digital Protocols and Audio over IP. It’s a subject that will prove as compelling and relevant to systems integrators as it will be to audio professionals. Sessions will explore: the history and evolution of digital networking; use of digital audio protocols in live events; case studies of AoIP systems; AV networking in a variety of real world scenarios and the AES 67 and 70 standards. The Audio Forum encourages open debate and discussion amongst presenters and attendees and welcomes input into the programme.
