Going live with virtual mixing

The eMotion LV1 software mixer – a digital mixing console for FOH, monitor and broadcast engineers – is being showcased in Hall 7.

Based on Waves SoundGrid technology, which offers a low-latency environment for high-precision audio processing, the system features a 32-bit floating point mix engine with up to 96kHz sample rate, 16 DCA faders, eight mute groups, and eight user-assignable shortcut keys.

Each of the mixer’s channels (64 stereo/mono input channels, 36 bus/return channels) has its own plugin rack capable of running up to eight Waves and third-party SoundGrid-compatible plugins, meaning audio professionals can mix live with hundreds of their favourite plugins, all running insidethe mixer itself.

All plugin presets and chains saved in eMotion LV1 can be shared with the Waves MultiRack and StudioRack plugin hosts, which, according tothe company, enables a seamless move between live and studio environments.

The mixer’s channel strip, with standard EQ, filters and dynamics processing, is provided by Waves eMo plugins. The company says the eMo D5 Dynamics, eMo F2 Filter and eMo Q4 Equalizer are designed for maximum clarity and efficiency in a live environment. The eMotion LV1 can be controlled using industry-standard hardware controllers, multi-touch screens and diverse portable devices, from four touchscreens to a single Windows or Mac laptop, or tablet.
