LARA is the name given by exhibitor ELKO EP, a Czech manufacturer of modular electronic devices, to its range of home automation and home entertainment solutions.
Among these is LARA Radio, a music and internet radio player. As well as playing streaming radio, it is possible to connect an external music source (iPhone, MP3 player, smart phone) via a 3.5mm jack. It is equipped with a 1.5in OLED colour display, and is controlled via a touch panel or an infrared remote controller that is included with the product. A built-in 2x10W amplifier delivers sufficient power for hi-fi speakers, while configuration is possible from a laptop using the free LARA configurator.
The LARA home video intercom allows the radio to be turned into an intercom, and can also be connected to an entrance door equipped with a video camera. This, says ELKO EP, means that three devices are combined into a single solution.
LARA iNELS Multimedia is the company’s top-of-the-range solution. Not only does it have the functionality of LARA Radio in terms of streaming radio and connections to external portable music players, it can also play multimedia files from network storage (NAS), enabling a music collection to be available throughout the home. It uses Power over Ethernet (PoE), meaning that installation requires a single cable, while its video capability allows it to be used as a complete home videophone solution.
