The InRoom Silver LR-H is a new loudspeaker that combines traditional front firing-drivers with an integrated Dolby Atmos-enabled module that directs sound towards the ceiling.
It offers two front-firing 6.5in organic-fibre cone drivers with a 1in fabric dome neodymium tweeter. The Dolby Atmos component is comprised of an upward firing top array comprised of four proprietary 3in full-range neodymium drivers.
Triad says the Dolby Atmos audio experience can be achieved without requiring the separate use of in-ceiling speakers, by placing one InRoom Silver LR-H in each of the left and right front and left and right rear surround positions, complementing the centre channel speaker and subwoofers.
The speaker is available in a wide variety of colours and finishes, including custom paint-matched or veneered, to match the décor of the room. It measures 56.8cm x 22.2cm x 28.4cm.
David Nelson, director of product development, Triad Speakers, said, “As Dolby’s loudspeaker development partner for the last few years, we have had the opportunity to be involved in a significant step forward in home surround sound systems. For Dolby Atmos enabled speakers Triad uses four proprietary drive units in a 2×2 array, and the speaker systems are designed and manufactured at our Portland facility. The array provides enhanced directivity and reduced side wall interaction over a traditional driver for better overhead surround effects.”
The company notes that the InRoom Silver LR-H is larger in size and handles more power than the Triad’s Bronze model, making this step-up more suited for larger Dolby Atmos home cinemas.
