Gira: Central control point for intelligent building

Set to ship this month, the Gira G1 is a compact unit to bring control of an entire building’s technology under a central operations point.

All KNX functions can be intuitively operated by touching or gesturing on the multi-touch display, which sports the new Gira Interface. This user-friendly graphic system features large fonts and easy-to-understand symbols on a 6in TFT colour display. It offers a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and 160dpi to guarantee a clear representation of images, graphics and text that the company claims is easily legible from any viewing angle.

The G1 also acts as a central controller for bidirectional eNet radio system for smart networking, as well as a complete door intercom when used in connection with the DCS-IP-gateway and a door station. With a finger touch, communication is initiated, the door is opened, and the light is switched on if necessary. The Gira G1 can also be employed as a client in combination with a Gira HomeServer.

The unit features a continuous front panel consisting of scratch-resistant 1mm thick glass, as well as being housed in a metal frame. However it can also be inserted into a standard 55mm flush-mounted box.
