WyreStorm: Bringing a resolution to 4K and HD disparity

The new WyreStorm MX-0808-PP-POH-4K UltraHD matrix is based on the Class A HDBaseT VS100 chip. It boasts a 5Play feature set including 100m transmissions of 1080p/48-bit at 60Hz with HD audio, discrete internal IR routing and RS-232, internal LAN switching to send Ethernet and 100W power along a single Cat5e/6 cable to display zone devices.

It can handle 4K transmissions at 30Hz up to 70m, supporting resolutions intended for both broadcast /consumer and commercial applications and offering 2160p at 300MHz, 24-bit true colour.

The WyreStorm 4K matrix offers a modular transmission card-based design consisting of HDMI in, HDBaseT out and switched HDMI out, capable of feeding up to 16 screens from a single unit in an 8 x 8+8 configuration, and thus enabling connection to existing 4K devices. Modular upgrades will be developed as and when connectivity, such as HDCP 2.2, becomes standardised.

Internal EDID management, using preset, stored or recalled settings via control software, negotiates communication between connected source/display devices and features Power-over-HDBaseT to power new slimline PoH display receivers.

The WyreStorm EXP-SCL-DAC-4K scaler sits between receiver and display and automatically scales up 1080p content to UHD 4K at 30Hz on any 4K screens, or scales back 4K transmissions to 1080p 24fps. The addition of Dolby downmix to stereo PCM functionality means multichannel audio up to 5.1 can be distributed to supported zones and automatically scaled down to compatible stereo PCM audio without sacrificing the integrity of the transmission.
