Automation at sea

ISE 2015 exhibitor HDL has developed a range of automation products designed especially for a marine environment.

With the all-new HDL marine systems, the comfort, convenience and security of a building can be transferred to any vessel regardless of size. Using innovative software and hardware, says the company, a user can monitor the heading, waypoints, battery status, engine status, fuel status and water status, using one device.

In addition, the control of HVAC, lighting, winches, windlasses, background music, bilge pumps and a host of other features give a user convenience and added security.

All this means that at-sea users don’t need to venture on deck to weigh anchor, check that their running lights are active or that the hatches are battened down. Even when a user goes ashore, GSM communication can alert them if a security device is triggered, or if any of the ship’s systems are active. This notification is immediate and allows a user to respond in a timely manner.

All monitoring and control is enabled via an app that can be installed on both iOS and Android systems. This reduces power consumption, as there is no need to power an extra display.
