Agreement extends unified communications to Infinity

Reinforcing ISE’s reputation as a place where business happens, two exhibitors have used the show to announce their new working relationship. Ricoh is to use Pexip’s Infinity platform to power its new UCS-P3500 (and other UCS products) for videoconferencing.

“It was important for us to base our Ricoh Unified Communication System on a platform that can scale with enterprise user requirements, and enables us to flexibly provide our customers with the quality and capacity they demand,” said Hede Nonaka, corporate senior VP, VC Business Group, Ricoh.

He likes that Infinity is software based, uses distributed architecture and is simple to manage and set up. “As we see the enterprise collaboration culture shift from the scheduled meeting room to personal devices and ad-hoc meeting requirements, Pexip was a perfect match to providing this flexibility,” said Nonaka.

“We see a great demand for this type of solution, and we already have significant experience with Pexip in the Nordic market,” added Alberto Mariani, director, IT services and communications services, Ricoh Europe. He believes it will greatly enhance the flexibility of its new UCS-P3500, P100 and software UCS products.

“The Pexip Infinity platform is created from ground up to be able to provide the capacity and feature sets required by large user networks and enterprises,” explained Pexip CEO and co-founder Simen Teigre. He believes Ricoh’s “size, brand awareness and global reach” offer it “a great way to scale this for the market.” Most of its current customers integrate Infinity themselves, “but a larger part of the market will want to buy an integrated solution, like these from Ricoh.”
