Our story
Originally established in 1997, Optoma Europe was born out of their parent company Coretronic – the largest manufacturer for DLP projection.
As the story goes within the halls at the Optoma Europe headquarters in the UK, the founder of Optoma Europe, S.Y Chen, travelled from Taiwan – where Coretronic is based, with a projector under his arm and a dream to share Optoma’s innovative audio-visual solutions with the EMEA market.
S.Y Chen started the company with the support of Lungile Moyo, Optoma’s Service Engineer, and Nick Price, Sales Director for Optoma Europe, who are both still with the company to this day. S.Y Chen also continues to work within the Coretronic group and is Chairman of Optoma Worldwide.

The localised, adaptable and dynamic approach with which we treat all customer relationships has always allowed exceptionally strong relationships with partners to blossom and thrive.
In conjunction, the exceptionally strong research and development focus of Coretronic has always ensured Optoma embrace and integrate cutting edge and innovative technology into our product proposition, most recently evidenced in Optoma branching out of projection and expanding into the world of large flat panel displays, including the award-winning and unique QUAD LED range, and the Creative Touch range – a selection of interactive flat panel displays.
