Tryka Flexistrip has been used to highlight the dramatic glazed arches and domes of the newly opened Clayton Square Shopping Centre in Liverpool.

Flexistrip is Tryka’s IP67 (i.e. highly weather-resistant) LED strip lighting system available in both RGB and single colour versions. Additionally, Flexistrip is available with two power options of 7.2w and 14.4w per metre.

Tryka clients Studiotech of Stockport designed and installed the 350m Flexistrip scheme and further highlighted the giant dome with four Tryka Module 36 LED RGB spotlights.

“Tryka Flexistrip is powerful and adaptable, ideal for enhancing the stunning aesthetics of the dome” said Studiotech’s Tim Ashley.

Clayton Square Shopping Centre is home to some 30 stories, including UK household name brands such as Boots, Mothercare and Vision Express.

The original Clayton Square was laid out between 1745-50, and named after William Clayton, who was Mayor of Liverpool in 1689 and who also represented the city in eight parliaments between 1698-1714. The grand houses eventually became retail establishments, and even a theatre – but over the passage of time, the quality of the shops deteriorated and the square became an eyesore. In 1986, after a Public Inquiry following numerous calls for the old square to be restored, the entire area was demolished to make way for the present retail development.
