US-based Sound Investment Audio has fitted out three new US nightclubs with Funktion-One sound reinforcement technology not yet officially launched by the company.
In late 2012, the world’s largest music store for DJs, Beatport – which offers music in premium digital formats and provides music tools for its customers – featured five of Sound Investment’s Funktion-One projects in the ‘Top 10 Best Sound Systems in America’ chart.
Following on from this, Sound Investment carried out installations at three new nightclubs: two in New York – Output and Marquee – and one in Los Angeles – SOUND. The clubs use Funktion-One’s new audio technology (yet to be officially launched).
At SOUND (pictured), Sound Investment Audio equipped each of the four corners with flown Funktion-One mid-high loudspeakers. These are complemented by two Funktion-One Resolution full-range enclosures and three loudspeakers from the new Funktion-One range, with the latter supplying mid-bass frequencies.
Funktion One founders Tony Andrews and John Newsham, supported by the team at Funktion-One, have been developing technology that will support a new generation of Funktion-One products. This period of R&D is intended to build on the standards in sonic capabilities already attained by the British manufacturer.
2013 has already seen the launch of the MST – Modular Stadium Technology – horns at ISE, as well as the BR – Bass Reflex – range at Prolight + Sound, with promises of more still to come.
Output, Marquee and SOUND are the first nightclubs to benefit from the Funktion-One development period.
Sound Investment Audio’s Dan Agne commented: “We were very fortunate to be able to install the new Funktion-One technology at Output, SOUND and Marquee – the operators of these venues are some of the best in the business. Having heard the three systems and witnessed the audience reaction, I can confidently say that we have arrived at a new level of high-fidelity audio.”
