Top of the class: Tannoy at LIS

A recent renovation of the school building saw Leipzig-based integrator Electroacoustics take responsibility for the planning and installation of new media technology in a number of important spaces.

For the performance auditorium, the company specified two Tannoy POWERV 12HP full-range loudspeakers and a single POWERVS 15BP subwoofer. The system was designed with multiple uses in mind and includes a mobile rack with mixer, media player and a DSP system with fixed presets for different applications.

Meanwhile, in the main multipurpose hall, the set-up comprises a further six POWERV 12HPs along with two Tannoy iQ18B subwoofers on the ceiling, down the centre line of the halls. The subs are mounted on a bespoke bracket and powered by a 1,200W amplifier, integrated with the enclosure.

Tannoy’s Mark Flanagan told II: “The POWERV series is all about making life a breeze for the installer. The 12in PowerDual driver on the POWERV 12HP delivers smooth, uniform coverage regardless of whether it’s mounted horizontally or vertically, while the High Pass filter means it can be mounted close to obstructions and room boundaries while being perfectly matched to any POWERV subwoofer. Each speaker combines efficient and cool-running amplification, comprehensive driver protection and equalisation into a single compact unit; easy to install without worrying about signal degradation.

“The fact that they comply with German safety standards for use in ball sports halls further enhances POWERV’s position as the no-brainer choice for this sort of job.”
