The Regal is reborn with help from Martin Audio and Avolites

A long-term familiarity with Martin Audio equipment meant that technical director Kieran Hayes was keen to acquire a Martin rig. With input from, among others, Martin Audio’s director of engineering, Bill Webb, the team devised a set-up based around six W8LC Compact line arrays flown each side of the stage, with a W8LCD downfall enclosure at the base and two stacks of four 218x subwoofers on concrete pillars. In addition, a pair of Blackline F12s and an S15 sub were purchased from Capital Sound Hire for use in the DJ booth. Power for the entire system comes from Martin Audio MA4.2 and MA2.8 amplifiers.

Rounding out the Martin Audio specification, the Elite Room upstairs has been installed with six AQ8s and a pair of AQ212s.

The venue’s lighting system, meanwhile, is overseen from an Avolites Pearl Expert console. Recommended by Dave Parry from Most Technical, the desk controls 12 High End Systems Cyberlights, six Martin Professional MAC 250s, 40 PARs, four Robe LED Blinders, eight ETC Source Fours and three Martin Atomic strobes.

It’s the first time that Hayes, who operates the lighting board several nights a week, has used an Avo product. “Dave [Parry] gave me some basic training, after which I picked it up extremely quickly,” said Hayes. “I’ve still only scratched the surface in terms of its power and capacity, but I am looking forward to getting to know it a lot better.”
