When traffic jams occur in close proximity to participating service stations and ‘road restaurants’, the screens will display options that might serve to prolong visitor stops – for example, specially priced food menus.
Each location will be monitored from one central location, with the option to determine significant amounts of content on a local basis. The screen network can also be used to display other information, including weather reports.
“This project is a typical example of where digital signage can show its added value,” commented Arthur Damen, product manager of Net Display Systems.”By displaying information relevant to a specific location visitors can make a deliberate choice: join the traffic jam or postpone the departure for a while and make use of the offered alternative.”
The implementation of the PADS software is being carried out by Dutch partner Infoscreens.
