SMODE powers content management for Paris TV studio

Company's media server drives display synchronisation, augmented reality and live graphics at international broadcaster TV5MONDE’s newly updated studio in the French capital

SMODE’s real-time visual engine and media server platform is at the heart of international broadcaster TV5MONDE’s newly redesigned main studio in Paris, France. The installation is designed to enable integrated content control, augmented reality, and on-air graphic workflows.

As part of a full studio and visual identity refresh, the broadcaster has installed a SMODE server directly into its nodal system. It now manages all display elements across the space – including wall screens, a central totem, and AR overlays – and is designed to ensure visual consistency across live broadcasts.

The project forms part of a wider effort to modernise TV5MONDE’s on-air appearance and newsroom experience. The new studio layout was designed by the Paris-based agency Panoramic 7 and integrates a colour-coded graphic scheme, with orange as the primary tone, blue for news, and violet for cultural content. The graphics package, including lower thirds and transitions, was developed by agency 17Mars.

According to SMODE Tech, its system enables collaborative workflows between graphics teams, journalists and operators, supporting faster deployment of live visuals and more flexibility for editorial production. The platform is intended to streamline content creation and reduce the turnaround time from concept to broadcast.

Training for the broadcaster’s production teams was provided by SMODE Tech product specialist Erwan Tehel to ensure a smooth transition to the real-time workflow.

Nicolas Bruxer, production and project manager at TV5MONDE, said: “The use of SMODE in the new set design has optimised responsiveness between editorial ideas and the on-air deployment of new graphic scenarios, meeting the demands of daily live broadcasts.”

Francis Maes, CEO of Smode Tech, added: “We’re proud to see SMODE at the heart of TV5MONDE’s new set-up. This collaboration perfectly illustrates how real-time technologies can enhance editorial creativity while streamlining broadcast production.”

The redesign also aimed to improve the comfort and working environment for studio staff, according to the broadcaster, and supports more human-centred, globally focused storytelling – a shift reflected in the studio’s updated visual themes.
