Singapore arts centre invests in Avolites Pearl Expert console

Marc Brandon from installation company AVL Acoustic Systems worked in consultation with the college’s in-house AV team in devising an all-encompassing lighting and audio upgrade for the arts centre, which is utilised to stage a variety of events and shows. In selecting a lighting control solution, he was keen to choose a system that was flexible and offered sufficient capacity to run reasonably complex productions.

“I wanted a new desk that was very user-friendly and could easily deal with both moving lights and generics, offering lots of functions,” said Brandon, pictured here (third from left) with Leslie Sim (Total Solutions), Johnny Yeo (head of lighting, Raffles Junior College) and Melyadi bin Kamis (head of sound, Raffles Junior College).

Showcased for the first time at PLASA in 2006, the Pearl Expert is a high-performance version of the Pearl console and is based on the Pearl 2004 operating system. Features include a dual core engine; a ‘split’ roller for complex productions; Swop, Flash & Fixture buttons on all 60 preset faders; an in-built hard disk; four fully isolated and protected DMX universes; and an integral fixture library containing more than 1,500 fixture files.
