Sennheiser is showcasing its latest XS Wireless radio microphone series in Frankfurt this year. Five entry-level systems are incorporated into the range – two vocal sets, an instrument system, presentation sets with clip-on microphone or a headmic, and rack-mount accessories – featuring intuitive menus, automatic free frequency searches and synchronisation between transmitters and receivers. Fitted with Sennheiser microphone capsules, the two XS Wireless vocal sets include an instrument set for guitarists, and can be handheld with cardioid condenser capsule or with one that includes a genuine dynamic e 835 capsule. For installed sound applications and presentations, the system has the option of handheld transmitter or a bodypack transmitter with either a head-worn mic or a clip-on microphone. Mute buttons on the handheld and the bodypack ensure that speakers are in control of the transmission. The true-diversity receiver, housed in a robust metal case, communicates with the transmitters that have a battery life of up to ten hours. The system also feature freely tunable frequencies within a switching bandwidth of 24 MHz (13 MHz for the E frequency range) – this allows up to 12 wireless links to be operated simultaneously. “With the XS Wireless Series, Sennheiser offers reliability and quality sound at an entry-level price,” explained Martin Fischer, poduct manager for Sennheiser’s wireless systems. “It offers good value for money and will benefit small event and conference venues, houses of worship as well as bands, vocalists and musicians.” For larger systems, new rack-mount accessories are available, incorporating the GAM 1 and GAM 2 single-channel and two-channel rack-mount kits, which serve to install receivers in a 19in rack. Conection to antennas to the front of the rack is also permitted to increase reception quality, and the GAM 2 includes two 1:2 antenna splitters for distributing the antenna signal from a single pair of antennas to both receivers. www.sennheiser.com
