Riedel’s German venue trilogy

At the Schauspielhaus in Dresden (pictured), a Riedel Performer 32+16 system provides the backbone of the intercom system. A Performer C44 Partyline interface integrates 12 C3 Digital Partyline beltpacks with the intercom matrix. Eleven PRO and six ultralight AIR-headsets are also part of the set-up.

As with the Dresden installation, the intercom fit-out at the opera house in Halle was carried out by system integrator HFE Elektroakustik. At this venue, a Riedel Artist 64 matrix is being used in conjunction with a total of 19 Artist 2000 and Artist 3000 control panels.

Meanwhile, the State Theatre Meiningen has been fitted with a Performer 32+16 system by Sigma-TBL. The Performer system is part of a set-up that also includes a Performer C44 interface, 15 Artist 2000 control panels and four C3 Digital Partyline Beltpacks, among other equipment.

Riedel Communications’ director marketing & communications, Andreas Hilmer, told II: “Riedel has long been a popular choice for theatre projects. It’s a market in which Riedel started out and has always been strong. It’s just that this was not in the minds of some people as major broadcast projects involving the RTL and BBC, and events such as the Olympic Games have – understandably – tended to dominate the company’s public profile.”

In other news, Riedel’s recently opened UK office – situated at Pinewood Studios in Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire – will cover rental/sales activities and provide direct customer support.

“Now that we’re starting our own office in the UK, we have the opportunity to establish a more direct contact with our existing customers here,” said business development director Paul Rivens. “And being at the UK’s leading film production facility, Pinewood Studios, is not only exciting but provides Riedel with numerous business opportunities.”

Rivens’ team at Riedel’s UK office includes Struan Robertson, who joined the digital intercom technology developer in January. The last few months have also seen the company add to some of its other international teams: former Telex sales manager Rick Fisher has joined Riedel in the US as regional sales manager for the south-east and mid-west regions, while Dave Letson – previously international sales manager at Calrec – has taken on sales responsibilities in Australia and New Zealand, and is working out of the Sydney office.
