TOA is exhibiting its brand new Active Line Array Speaker System – the SR-D8 – at this year’s Prolight + Sound exhibition, Frankfurt.
TOA has combined its proprietary line array technology and digital signal processing (DSP) technology in developing the SR-D8 active line array speaker. As well as processing both analogue and digital audio input, the speaker has a built-in digital amplifier to project sound waves to targeted areas.
By digitally shaping the width and angle of acoustic beams, it can steer sound preciselywithout requiring a change of installation location. The company says that this feature makes it well suited for use in venues where structural or design considerations make it hard to move speakers about or where unwanted sound reflections and reverberations must be kept to a minimum.
The SR-D8 also enables 16 speakers (in up to four stacks) to be controlled as a single unit via CobraNet. The GUI software can adjust mixing and DSP parameter settings, running simulations, and communicating. In addition, according to TOA, the highly intuitive GUI enables quick and easy adjustment of settings, with a simulated graph of the acoustic pressure distribution providing a visual check of coverage areas as settings are adjusted. The simulation function—along with high communication speeds – allows users to immediately see and hear the results of changing the parameter settings.
Alongside the SR-D8 and other products the TOA & Trantec range, TOA will be showcasing the M-864D which is the latest Digital Input Stereo Mixer from TOA; the digital mixer has 15 inputs, straight forward operation functions and flexible configuration choices. The TOA staff will be on hand to give demonstrations of the M-864D as part of a full system throughout the three days of Prolight & Sound. Visitors can also get an exclusive look at a range of new TOA quad digital amplifiers designed to work alongside TOA’s voice evacuation systems. The three new models are available in several power options, 4 X 500W, 4 X 300W or 4 X 150W to suit a variety of applications.
