Powersoft amps deployed at Romania’s largest equestrian venue

Mezzo, Unica and Quattrocanali series support multi-zone audio at Phoenix Riders, a 20,000sqm site near Bucharest set to expand into 150,000sqm hub for international equestrian sport

Powersoft’s fixed-installation amplifiers have been integrated into the audio infrastructure at Phoenix Riders – Romania’s largest and most ambitious equestrian venue – as part of a scalable, multi-zone system designed by local integrator Audiovision. The system uses the Mezzo, Unica and Quattrocanali series to deliver flexible audio distribution across the 20,000sqm first-phase development, with infrastructure in place to support future expansion to 150,000sqm.

Located just outside Bucharest in Ploiești, Phoenix Riders is recognised as a major new addition to the international equestrian sports calendar, already hosting high-level dressage and show jumping competitions. Powersoft says the centre’s long-term development plan includes grandstands, competition arenas, stables, restaurants, and hospitality zones, with the venue positioned as a world-class destination for athletes and spectators.

Audiovision built the system on a Dante audio-over-IP platform, enabling real-time routing, low latency, unified volume and zone control, and integration with all equipment on site. The distributed approach covers a wide variety of spaces, from training zones and administrative offices to performance arenas and dining areas.

The venue was divided into five audio hubs, each designed for specific acoustic and functional needs. A Quattrocanali 2404 DSP+P and Mezzo 604AD serve the restaurant area, while the café, conference room and warm-up zones are powered by combinations of Mezzo 604AD and 602AD amplifiers. The indoor arena – one of the site’s key focal points – uses two Mezzo 322AD and two Unica 8K8 amplifiers, ensuring even coverage and strong headroom during major events.

AUDAC loudspeakers were selected to match the acoustic requirements of each zone. Control is managed through Powersoft’s WM Touch interface, giving staff intuitive access to volume and source control across all areas.

Powersoft says the installation takes advantage of its Dynamic Music Distribution (DMD) platform, allowing audio sources to be routed dynamically to multiple zones without requiring a centralised DSP.

Claudiu Albu, project manager at Audiovision, said: “One of the key technical challenges was implementing a reliable and scalable infrastructure that would support long-term flexibility and high-performance audio distribution.”

Simone Scaramuzza, EMEA sales manager at Powersoft, added: “DMD offers system integrators the ability to scale inputs and zones conveniently and efficiently with dynamic routing capabilities embedded in its amplifier platforms. It makes it simple to share music between different zones independently from the source.”

From the outset, the entire audio system was designed with future expansion in mind, allowing for new competition zones and public areas to be added with minimal disruption or reconfiguration.
