The Main Media Centre for the the XXII Olympic Winter Games and XI Paralympic Winter Games, which is currently being held in Sochi, Russia, has been equipped with comprehensive communications solution featuring Polymedia's PolyWall. Russian AV systems integrator, JSC, handled the AV installation, which covered both the media centre and conference halls at the hotel for media representatives.

There are four press conference halls in the Main Media Center: Pushkin, which holds for 465 media representatives; Tolstoy (220 representatives); Dostoevsky (140); and Chekhov (50). These are used for press conferences, video-bridges, online broadcasting of competitions and award ceremonies, as well as cultural and presentation actions.

Each hall is equipped with multiple integrated systems: conference systems, videoconference system, sound systems and simultaneous translation system. There are eight languages for synchronous to be available during press conferences, which in the peak period are expected to be 18 per day.

For the Main Media Centre, Polymedia integrated its own unique software PolyWall as an optimal visualisation control solution. This data visualisation management system enables Sochi officials to control several displays and video walls from a single cross-platform user interface. The system works with pre-loaded or using online-created scenarios for complex events, displaying the information from different types of sources and making all necessary actions to learn and analyze data. This enables the organisation of complex content distribution throughout the facility.

In The Pushkin press hall, two video-walls and backup LCD are installed as a main visualisation system. Presidium is equipped with twelve sliding Element One monitors, which are used to remedy issues with the 'picture area' – during the photo sessions these monitors are moved away so they don’t cover speaker’s face. Videowalls in a smaller configuration (2x2 panels) are settled in The Tolstoy and The Dostoevsky press halls.

The Press room for 500 journalists and a hall for photographers are equipped with two video walls. The entrance area, meanwhile, has been fitted with videowalls and displays, which are unified in the Digital Signage system to broadcast timetables, video, announcements, news and other multimedia content broadcasting.

Conference halls in the hotel are equipped with visualisation systems, congress systems, videoconference and acoustic systems.

“The Main Media Center of the Olympic Games 2014 as well as the conference halls are equipped according to the highest requirements that are always claimed for this kind of projects. We did our best to create all conditions for journalists as they could comfortably cover all news from Olympic Games,” said the Polymedia project manager Dmitry Semenov.
