Polycom celebrates 25 years with new suite of collaboration solutions

Polycom has celebrated 25 years in business by unveiling the RealPresence Trio, Centro, Debut, Medialign, and Concierge.

Polycom has unveiled a number of new collaboration products as the company celebrates 25 years of business and looks at solutions to adapt to the workplace of the future. The solutions revealed include RealPresence Trio, Centro, Debut, Medialign, and Concierge.

“We are taking a quantum leap in achieving our vision of unleashing the power of human collaboration,” said Peter Leav, Polycom’s president and CEO. “As we celebrate our 25th year of innovation and leadership, we are announcing breakthrough collaboration experiences that uniquely place people at the heart of collaboration enabling them to work better, smarter, and more efficiently. We are delivering the workplace of the future today.”

The RealPresence Trio is a smart hub for group collaboration based on the company’s three-point conference phone with voice, content-sharing, and video capabilities. With this solution Polycom are emphasising audio performance as well as usability such as one-touch calendar integration for users. Participants can also pair mobile devices or laptops to share content in HD and the Trio has interoperability with other UC platforms including Skype for Business and Microsoft Lync.

“At Mondelēz International, we’re working to deliver better business value in everything we do and simpler, more natural collaboration across our organisation is key to our success,” said Dave Diedrich, VP and CTO, Mondelēz International. “Polycom’s new solutions blend innovative technology and broad collaboration tools with precisely the right human elements, just the way we want to work.”

The RealPresence Centro aims to put people at the centre of collaboration with participants able to communicate with each other more naturally. It includes patented 360° voice and video technology, which automatically tracks the speaker, while showing the entire meeting space on the same screen. The Centro solution also offers wireless pairing with many devices, and has built-in proximity sensors to enable responsive and intelligent interaction.

“We believe the RealPresence Centro solution will revolutionise how people will collaborate,” said Gus Mommers, IT director, NIAS Manager, NATO communications and information agency, NCIA.

The third of the new products launched was the RealPresence Debut, which is a collaboration solution specifically for huddle rooms, smaller room environments, and small or medium sized businesses with limited IT resources. Setup can be done in minutes and the user interface allows anyone to start and manage a call.

The Debut incorporates Polycom NoiseBlock technology, and 1080p video quality and content sharing. It can also be connected to cloud services with no IT support needed.

The RealPresence Medialign features Polycom’s voice, content sharing/management and video technology. It can be assembled quickly without additional tools and interoperates with a broad array of UC platforms. As with other RealPresence Group solutions it features NoiseBlock technology and Acoustic Fence audio technology as well as EagleEye Producer and Director camera technology.

Polycom Concierge is enterprise software that automatically connects personal devices to Polycom solutions. This allows users to experience a familiar interface for conference control and content sharing to personalise the group meeting. It allows users to share content from their own devices and see content shared by others on their own device.

An additional announcement at the product launch was that its VVX business media phones will be the first phones to support the forthcoming cloud voice service offering from Microsoft, Office 365.

“Polycom’s new releases challenge the notion that work happens in traditional meeting rooms only. Instead, these solutions bring collaboration to the places customers want to work including small meeting rooms and informal meeting spaces,” said Ira M. Weinstein, senior analyst and partner at Wainhouse Research.
