Panasonic’s first Full HD 3D home projector from AWE

Available from October from AWE is Panasonic’s first full HD 3D home theatre projector with 1080p resolution, the PT-AT5000E.

Panasonic’s first full HD 3D home theatre projector with 1080p resolution, the PT-AT5000E, is now available to order in the UK through CI distributor AWE.

“The PT-AT5000E brings comfortable 3D viewing to everyone with 3D Picture Balance features” said Paul Mott, sales director at AWE.. “In short, this is the most adaptable, accessible and exciting projector offering from Panasonic to date. A 3D Viewing Monitor makes sure stereoscopic effects stay within the safety of the 3D Consortium guidelines, as 3D changes with varying screen sizes. This provides the viewer with a more comfortable and natural viewing experience than any other comparative product.”

The PT-AT5000E is said to be the world’s first 3D projector to use transparent LCD panels driven at 480Hz; combined with Panasonic’s original Overdrive Technology, these are claimed to achieve a significantly low crosstalk. The newly developed optical engine produces a 300,000:1 contrast ratio and 2,000 lumens of brightness,

The projector’s technologies were developed in collaboration with Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory engineers, who are heavily engaged in the creation of 3D Blu-ray discs and have taken key roles in establishing the industry standards for 3D. The PT-AT5000E has been designed to achieve higher basic 2D performance compared with the award winning PT-AE4000, as well as introducing new 3D features.

The left and right eye images can be displayed side by side on the PT-AT5000E, with individual Waveform Monitor to adjust 3D picture balance. Other 3D features include 2D-3D Conversion, which offers five different 3D effect modes.

The projector comes equipped with a built-in 3D IR transmitter that lets the user wear the same 3D eyewear that is used for the Panasonic VIERA 3DTV. An optional IR transmitter (ET-TRM110) is also available for extended transmission distance.

“Another great aspect of the PT-AT5000E is it comes loaded with features to customise your home cinema,” said Mott. “Differing formats often come in aspects that are wider than the projector’s own aspect ratio to match the image size (2.35:1) seen at the cinema. The Intelligent Lens Memory feature enables you to programme up to six zoom/focus positions. Automatic switching between 16:9 and 2.35:1 video content is also possible thanks to the signal aspect detection which all combine to allow you extract the very best quality and clarity from your home cinema setup.”

The PT-AT5000E comes equipped with two programmable 12V trigger terminals, making possible simple theatre automation, such as lighting and a motorised screen. In addition, full control is available via the RS-232C port.

The projector is also equipped with three HDMI inputs (supporting x.v.Colour and Deep Colour), so multiple HD sources can be connected without an HDMI switcher. Initial setup and installation are quick and easy, because the 2x zoom can cast a 120-inch diagonal image from 3.6m (about 11ft) to 7m (24ft) from the screen. The projector’s lens shift capability enables 100% vertical adjustment and 26% horizontal adjustment, which combined with a 2x zoom means an installer can suspend the projector either close to the ceiling or mount it to a wall.

“Advanced Panasonic digital circuitry determines the necessary power output by analysing more than 3 billion different image patterns,” said Mott. “This results in a significant power reduction of up to 10% which saves the end user energy and money. The PT-AT5000E is a truly green product.”

The Panasonic PT-AT5000E Full HD 3D home theatre projector will be available from October 2011.
