US manufacturer Panamax has announced its first product to combine power management, surge protection, and battery back-up for home cinema systems in a single unit.

US manufacturer Panamax has announced its first product to combine power management, surge protection, and battery back-up for home cinema systems in a single unit.

The MX5102 is designed to give home cinema owners the peace of mind of knowing that in case of under-voltage or over-voltage conditions, their connected equipment will be protected from damage, and in the event of a power failure, it will be powered down correctly.

Offered as a standalone product or as part of a rack-mount solution, the MX5102 provides power management features including linear filtration and surge protection as well as supplying UPS functionality through two of its 10 outlets. The MX5102 prevents critical equipment from losing its setup configuration and stored data, while avoiding hard-disk crashes in the event of a sustained power event, such as a power outage.

In addition, the MX5102 safeguards projection bulbs by allowing them to cool down properly before shutting off, saving money on replacements. An RS232 serial communication port provided for integration with the rest of the system.

The MX5102 features 10 surge-protected outlets, including two battery-powered outlets that ensure temporary uninterrupted operation of connected equipment during a power failure, while resettable circuit breakers are designed to provide optimal overload protection.

The MX5102’s front panel offers an intuitive menu navigation system and LCD status display that monitors the incoming line voltage and displays battery time remaining in case of a power loss.
