Optimal Audio technology has been used to upgrade the audio infrastructure at Hotel De Zeevaartschool in Vlissingen, a coastal city in the south-west of the Netherlands. The installation, carried out by Domburg-based integrator Pulse Audio Video, provides flexible multi-zone sound for background music and live events.
At the core of the system is Optimal Audio’s Zone 8 processor, controlling each output of the brand’s AMP series amplifiers, which power a mix of Cuboid loudspeakers and Sub subwoofers. Zone 8 enables flexible signal routing, programmable presets and remote control via Optimal Audio’s WebApp interface, allowing non-technical staff to manage audio sources, microphones and zone volumes from a smartphone or tablet.
Loudspeaker coverage includes the use of the company’s Cuboid 8 full-range 8in two-way speakers for main areas, supported by Sub 10 low-profile subwoofers that can be installed discreetly in seating zones. For events and parties, Sub 15 units provide additional low-end reinforcement. Elsewhere in the hotel, Cuboid 5TX 100V speakers extend coverage into smaller zones.
Located in a former nautical college, the hotel combines historic architecture with modern amenities. The AV upgrade was aimed at supporting both day-to-day ambience and more demanding event use cases.

The installation enables the hotel to deliver consistent audio across public areas, dining rooms, and event spaces, with a system architecture designed to balance performance with ease of use.
