New Spanish Congress Palace equipped with Martin Audio OmniLine

Martin Audio’s OmniLine loudspeaker solution was selected for the Palace’s geometrically challenging main hall.

The Congress Palace (Ciudad de Oviedo) exhibition and conference centre, which opened in the heart of Spain’s Asturian capital, Oviedo, has been equipped with Martin Audio’s OmnilLine professional audio solution. Designed by Valencia-born architect Santiago Calatrava, the 15,530sqm Congress Palace consists of several different function rooms and exhibition spaces with its crowning feature being the main auditorium. This unusually shaped 2500sqm hall has a seating capacity of 2,144 seats, with a height of 45.16m up to the dome. Adagio Pro, Martin Audio’s distributor in Spain, was charged with audio design of the system in the auditorium. The company took into account the complex geometry and high reverberation times before specifying the OmniLine micro array system from Martin Audio. The full integration of the audiovisual systems was carried out by MEDIACOM 95 and GMI with the final tuning and commissioning carried out in conjunction with the engineering team of Adagio.Pro. Installers MEDIACOM 95 and GMI fitted two hangs of 24 OmniLine elements, which are flown either side of the main stage. The integrators divided each coloumn of the array into three zones or channels of amplification to produce a higher-level control to suit the audience. Meanwhile a Martin Audio DX2 four in/eight out DSP is used for processing, with this managing the different levels of the different levels of equalisation of each column.
