The National Theatre Mannheim, Oberhausen Theatre, and Osnabrück Theatre in Germany, and the Vienna State Opera have all chosen the new MAC III Performance, Martin Professional’s new 1500 W profile moving head with continuous framing system. The four venues will acquire a total of 48 Martin MAC III Performances, which will replace older Martin MAC 2000 Performances and Martin PAL 1200s, as well as fixtures of other manufacturers.
According to Martin, the four venues undertook several benchmark tests of currently available profile moving heads with framing systems – tests which resulted n the selection of the Martin solution. Various fixtures were at the disposal of the National Theatre Mannheim for an endurance test prior to the production start. This long-term test is said to have helped the development department at Martin Professional to adjust the MAC III Performance to the unique needs of daily operation in theatres. The company says that the result is the quietest and most precise moving head in the 1500 W performance class.
The Martin MAC III Performance is based on the MAC III Profile, which has featured for years on the largest tours: Martin says that this made it the perfect starting point for the theatre version. The effects module of the MAC III Profile can be easily replaced with the framing module of the MAC III Performance. Due to the modularity of the luminaire, Martin says that nothing further is required – the assembled module is detected automatically – so if there is a theatre piece on the schedule that requires more gobo slots, the MAC III Performance can be converted into a MAC III Profile instantly.
