Meridian Sooloos 2.1 provides interface enhancements and more ways for users to organise their digital media collections. A Crestron control module and Synchronized Zone Linking are among the features of Meridian Sooloos 2.1, which is a manifestation of Meridian's "commitment to continual development".
Notable aspects of the new version include a Meridian Sooloos Crestron module that builds on existing capabilities by delivering a faster, more robust protocol. Meanwhile, a major software upgrade for the Meridian Sooloos Ensemble means that it is no longer limited in its expansion and backup options; as a result, it can be configured with its internal drive active and for manual back-up, or it can address Meridian Sooloos TwinStores to enable automatic back-up and unlimited expansion.
Other aspects of Sooloos 2.1 include: Synchronized Zone Linking, allowing synchronised multi-room audio over a user's network; an iPhone application that gives handheld wireless control of the system from anywhere in the home; an Enhanced Browsing mode that offers a "cleaner, more elegant" approach to library browsing and display; and integration of Internet Radio services.
Graeme Taylor, chief marketing officer at Meridian Audio, told IE Residential: "The new Meridian 2.1 update improves on the system's ability to integrate with a Crestron control system, while adding Apple iPhone control capabilities, streamlined configuration options, zone-link synchronisation, and the addition of the Rhapsody service and Internet radio but, most important for the CI market, we've also increased the interoperability of its Sooloos media system by adding modular card options that enable installers to integrate a Sooloos system with the company's flagship 800 solutions.
The new ID40 Sooloos integration card is standard with the company's new 808v3 CD player and an add-on option for its 861v6 A/V controller. The long-term place for Meridian Sooloos in custom installations is secured through the company's committed policy of expansion and development of the platform - as demonstrated by the 2.1 update."
