According to Traithep Wongpaiboon, vice-president of sound production at Kantana, the studios have been built by Munro to comply with all Dolby acoustic norms.
“Our regular clients consist of local and international clients and the demand is increasing each year,” said Wongpaiboon. “Therefore, the new studios will be used to support the rising number of clients. With world class quality provided by state-of-the-art facilities under an acceptable price, we are certain that our studios are second to none.”
Equipment in the new Studios 3 and 4 (not all of which was installed or provided by Munro) includes monitoring systems based around JBL 3632Ts and 8340As, and Digidesign D-Command (Studio 3) and ProControl (Studio 4) consoles. Both studios are Pro Tools-based.
“MA is gaining a reputation for consistently high-quality sound and acoustics in the post product world,” Munro Acoustics managing director Andy Munro told II. “We work closely with Dolby and others to add the same standards of sound reproduction expected in London or Hollywood to the emerging international film markets in Asia and elsewhere. Kantana were our first film client in south-east Asia and I wish them every success.”
