The Sala Highland Bar – located south of Barcelona in the heart of Tarragona – has already taken on a QSC ILA Line Array System based around two hangs of four WL2082-i enclosures, with three AD-S82H enclosures providing delays further down the room. The system is powered by a combination of six QSC RMX-1450s and a pair of RMX-2450 power amplifiers; control presets, system management and routing are assigned respectively to a QSC DSP-322ua and DSP-30 system manager.
With venue owner I_aki Iuain said to be delighted by the system’s performance, Rafael Porta from dB Lumen – the designer of the original installation – has now developed a similar QSC WL2082-i line array configuration for a dedicated live space, to be situated on the first floor and set to open this autumn.
Meanwhile, indie rock venue Sala Mandra – located in the Barcelona suburb of Hospitalet del Lobregat – possesses a QSC WideLine-10 system based around four hangs per side of WL2102 and three groundstacked WL218sw subs. The system – installed by ArtMedia – is driven by eight PowerLight PL230 amplifiers and controlled by a QSC BASIS 922dz.
The venue is shortly to relocate to an expanded facility, situated further down the street, that will provide an enlarged performance space and ensure sufficient room for an in-house recording studio. Upon relocation, the QSC system is likely to be moved onto a CobraNet network. The intention is for the studio to record the shows straight off the venue’s live mixing console.
QSC Spain’s Mauri Costa told II that these high-profile projects “will help to spread the word about the QSC brand [in Spain]. A lot of people know about QSC, but not everybody knows about the full range of products.” He adds that the company has a number of other projects involving the ILA Line Array System on the horizon, including auditoria and club venues.
