Trevor Cross, project manager at Audio Light Systems in Edinburgh who handled the installation explains that the specification came from the Church of Scotland’s consultant in electro-acoustic engineering, John MacDonald. “Although it wasn’t a big project, the church preferred to call in a consultant for a professional solution that would look and sound good for many years to come.”
“The system had to reproduce sound from a variety of sources including speech, choir, praise band and the AV system. John opted for a pair of EAW MK5366 cabinets in white, and I have to say, I agree entirely with his choice. A centre cluster configuration has been used to minimise the acoustic difficulties created by the huge vaulted ceiling in the church, and Audio Light Systems decided to suspend the speaker cabinets from three points using wire rope, which also had the advantage of giving pleasing aesthetic results. “Everyone was extremely happy with the end results,” concludes Cross. “The MK5366’s response and coverage were exactly what we were looking for. Speaking from the point of view of a systems contracting company, this type of installation in houses of worship is becoming more and more popular, and we find that EAW has a speaker solution for every situation.”
