Marquee AV has delivered a multi-zone sound system for Vintners Lanes, a new boutique bowling alley in Greenwich, London. Housed within a former Victorian brewery, now owned and utilised by Davy’s of London as part of its wine merchants’ operations, Vintners Lanes retains many original features, blending industrial chic décor with grand period furniture and vintage timber wine barrels.
The venue features six bowling lanes and plans to offer a range of additional entertainment, including live music, cocktail-making classes, and private event hire. Vintners Lanes approached Marquee AV to provide a high-performing sound system to enhance the vibrant atmosphere, support various events, and manage the noise from the bowling lanes.
Marquee AV’s special projects team led the audio installation, selecting a range of products from Bose Professional. DesignMax DM8 speakers were installed throughout the main bowling lanes. DesignMax DM3s were placed at the venue’s entrance to welcome guests, and FreeSpace FS2C speakers continued the music into the restrooms.
The biggest challenge was addressing the reflectiveness and noise of the bowling alley. Marquee AV worked closely with the design team, including Mark Hiles from W Hiles Partnerships and Adam Britnell from Design LSM, to position the speakers for optimal audio quality and aesthetics.
Mark Brown, managing director at Marquee AV, explained: “Having worked with Davy’s previously, we were very excited to collaborate on their latest venture. It has been a pleasure watching this project unfold. The venue has a great atmosphere, and the Bose Professional speakers produce a powerful but balanced sound that can be turned up for events to boost the energy.”
