Marantz announces new network audio player

A USB D/A converter, iPhone/iPod digital direct ability and network streaming are among the features of the NA7004.

A USB D/A converter, iPhone/iPod digital direct ability and network streaming are among the features of the NA7004.

Internet radio, an integrated high-end tuner and optional AirPlay compatibility also feature on the NA7004, which is described as the ‘perfect addition’ to any existing audio or AV stack.

Fully-equipped to enable users to get the best from their hard disk drive-stored music, the NA7004 utilises the CS4839 stereo DAC also found in the SA-KI Pearl Lite player. Marantz’s own high-speed voltage HDAMSA2 circuitry and the latest version of the compressed file sound-improving MDAX2 technology are also part of the package.

Other elements of the new product include DLNA version 1.4 certification for DMP (Digital Media Player) and DMR (Digital Media Rendered), and compatibility with the latest file formats, including high-quality 24-bit FLAC.

Further listening routes are available through online streaming services, such as Napster and Last FM (UK only), while Windows Media Player 12 automatically recognises the Windows 7-compatible Marantz unit. Meanwhile, the optional AirPlay feature on the Marantz NA7004 – now live following the release of Apple iOS4.2 – enables streaming of iTunes music libraries direct from a computer or directly from an iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch. There is also compatibility with Marantz’s newly-released Wizz App remote control app for iPhone and iPod Touch.
