The latest Que Pasa venue to be equipped with one of tsg’s promedia mms hard-disk systems is a former ‘Toad’ branded location at Corn Street, Bristol. The installation takes the number of Que Pasa sites using the system nationwide to 16.
Multi-purpose in use, promedia mms runs Que Pasa’s bespoke music and video profile and controls all aspects of the site’s entertainment offering. This includes the scheduling of custom-created, on-screen graphics, programming lighting effects, controlling what is seen on each video screen, and adjusting the audio presets throughout the trading week. In addition to this, promedia mms assists the on-site DJ with an integral, fully featured touchscreen DJ console.
As well as supplying the promedia mms setup, tsg specified and installed a robust video screen and lighting system and also tweaked and brought up to date the existing audio system at the Corn Street site.
Paul Beadle, CEO of Eldridge Pope, comments: “I believe that with this system we are at the cutting edge of the move to 100% digital music programming – particularly in respect of the DJ’s operating environment. Gone are the piles of expensive hardware within the booth; only the mixer remains alongside a keyboard, mouse and monitor. Gone also is the DJ’s record and CD collection, which is replaced by a substantial collection of digital audio and video files, all of which have been selected to match our own unique music profile. This affords us a degree of control over music programming that we have long dreamt of having.
“At the same time, we have not restricted the DJ’s mixing abilities technically, as the system provides them with the facility to beat match if they wish to. The true test of a DJ is playing the right song at the right moment, not necessarily how technically adept they are, and this system is more than adequate to allow them to fulfil that task – all within a controlled music environment that is mapped to target our customer profile.”
“Working on the Que Pasa sites has been both challenging and rewarding,” adds Nick Freeman, tsg’s national account director. “Paul Beadle is an informed, hands-on client with a clear understanding of how he wants each site to feel regarding its entertainment programme, whether that be vision, audio or lighting. We have enjoyed working on these projects and we believe that we have fully understood his requirements. In doing so, we have created an identifiable atmosphere that supports all of his weekly trading needs.”
