Major Chinese club operator commits to d&b

From one venue – the Face Caf_ in Guangzhou – FE has developed over the past decade to encompass four leading club brands: BabyFace, Richy, Face Caf_ and Baby K. Having realised in 2005 that the sites’ existing systems were not in line with customer expectations, Li and FE enlisted Dragon Studio’s Johnny Tang to help specify some replacements.

Convinced by a demonstration of a d&b audiotechnik system staged by d&b China’s Daniel Chan and Alex Poon, Tang – with support from Poon – devised a system based around d&b Ci7-TOPs, Ci-SUBs and B2-SUBs for BabyFace Beijing, which reopened in August 2006. Since that time, d&b systems have been installed in seven FE venues, including Baby Face NingBao (opening this month) and Club Face Caf_ in ShenZhen, which was installed with Ci7-TOPs, Ci-SUBs, B2-SUBs and MAXs for DJ monitors prior to reopening last month.

“I’m totally in love with the overall sound quality of d&b systems,” commented Tang. “When customers ask me, ‘what is a good sound system?’ I can tell them [that] the difference between d&b and other systems is that d&b sounds great whatever music you play: opera, pop, rock and roll, and hip hop. It’s just so powerful, with very high clarity and detail.”
