LTP lights up new bridge into Swansea

Other fixtures utilised by LTP include 164 blue and white Encapsulite MT50 21W 990mm units, five white Francis LH230 parallel beam luminaires, four 70W Meyer Superlight narrow beams and eight white Concord Marlin 20W discharge Michrotechno spots.

As the project progressed, Swansea council asked LTP to light the underbelly of the bridge as well – an aspect not provided for in the original plans. LTP specified 12 Color Kinetics ColorBlast 12 RGB LED fixtures with clear lenses for this task, which required an environmentally friendly, long-life low solution as the lights are located immediately adjacent to a busy dual carriageway.

All light-sources in the architectural scheme are activated by a timer control at dusk and switched off at first light.

LTP’s Terry Reeves told II: “With the fixed deadline of the opening night looming the lighting, as usual gets to go last, but completion was achieved on time and the scheme looks amazing. LTP rose to the occasion with a plethora of revisions, leading us into areas of lighting conductors and aviation obstruction beacons, along with the specification and supply of suitable glass panels for the encapsulated trough covers.”
