LIPA installs Towersonic speaker stands

The TS-1 Powered Towersonic speaker stands were supplied to the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts by KMR Audio.

The TS-1 Powered Towersonic speaker stands were supplied to the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts by KMR Audio.

Suitable for stereo and 5.1 (and up) configurations, the TS-1 POW stand is said to enable optimised 3D space positioning, “cool aesthetics” and, ultimately, a more accurate acoustic balance. The spec includes height extension of 650 to 1250mm, recommended max load of 50kg per stand, full load capacity of 70kg per stand, and a choice of wired and wireless systems with nine ‘height memory’ recall stages. The stand is priced from £949 excl VAT (£1,091.35 incl VAT).

The addition of extra nearfield monitoring in its largest studio was the prompt for LIPA to seek out “a way of lifting the new nearfields in and out of position”. LIPA’s Jon Thornton was already familiar with the Towersonic range – although not the powered stands – and upon ordering a pair has found that they “work fantastically. Installation was a breeze, and importantly the lift mechanism in no way compromises the rigidity and performance of the stands themselves. They are near silent in operation, too – and a small noise issue with one of the stands (probably as a result of mis-handling during transit) was quickly and efficiently resolved by KMR and Towersonic.”

KMR sales manager Stefan Pope added: “The Towersonic TS-1 Powered stands are remote controllable, motorised, fully height adjustable studio grade speaker stands. Undoubtedly the ultimate in audio monitoring stands and an innovative design from a British company. We’re proud to be their exclusive suppliers.”
