L-Acoustics systems deployed at new festival in Ukraine

K3, Kara and legacy V-DOSC speakers used across two stages at 'ethnofuturist' VYRII Festival, near Kyiv, with Soundvision modelling employed to achieve controlled coverage and minimal interference

L-Acoustics systems formed the core of the audio set-up at Ukraine’s first VYRII Festival, an ‘ethnofuturist’ event, which combined modern electronic music with more traditional Ukrainian performance, theatre and visual art. The 2025 edition, which took place near Kyiv, required an audio solution capable of handling everything from bass-heavy electronic acts to detailed acoustic material while keeping its two stages isolated from one another.

The festival team worked with integrator Franz Audio to design and implement the system, tailoring the approach to equipment availability in Ukraine, where much stock has been damaged or moved for protection during the war.

The electronic stage design featured two hangs of six K3 over three Kara, plus an out-fill hang of four Kara and six Kiva for front-fill. SB18 and KS28 subwoofers delivered low-frequency support. The K3/Kara system used AES67 network audio for signal transport and synchronisation, with audio, video and lighting run through a unified control system.

The main stage deployed two hangs of 11 V-DOSC, powered by LA8 amplified controllers. Although the V-DOSC system was new to the team, preparatory work in Soundvision aided its integration. Danyliuk said the system proved “reliable, versatile and powerful” for the outdoor environment.

Both stages were modelled in L-Acoustics Soundvision to predict coverage and guide placement before final tuning in LA Network Manager.

Yurii Danyliuk, director, Franz Audio, said: “Soundvision greatly simplified our process. It allowed us to simulate the system’s coverage accurately and ensure we were meeting our primary objective of guaranteeing consistent sound distribution.

“We have no doubt that our choice of sound system had a definitive impact on the success of the event. Ultimately, we’re very pleased with the festival’s technical implementation – even now, looking back, we wouldn’t make any changes. Achieving this level of professionalism and success during an ongoing war makes the project even more meaningful for our team.”
