An L-Acoustics L-ISA Hyperreal Sound system has been deployed at the Henry Le Bœuf Hall, a celebrated concert space known for its Art Deco design and natural acoustics, at the Palais des Beaux-Arts (Bozar) cultural venue, in Brussels, Belgium. The upgrade is designed to bring immersive, spatially precise sound to the historic hall while preserving its natural acoustic warmth.
L-Acoustics says that for many years amplified performances at Bozar relied on rented systems that were unable to fully meet the venue’s ambitions. The new permanent installation is designed to deliver consistent, high-quality sound for a broad range of non-classical performances.
The system design, created using L-Acoustics’ Soundvision modelling software, ensures even coverage throughout the auditorium’s curved geometry and multiple balconies. The configuration includes five hangs of L2D loudspeakers and two centrally flown hangs of four KS28 subwoofers, designed to provide powerful yet controlled low-end audio.
Additional Syva and Syva Low cabinets extend coverage to the front rows, while fifteen 5XT loudspeakers along the stage and balcony fronts ensure clarity for every listener. Amplification is handled by LA7.16i, LA7.16, and LA12X controllers, providing precise power management and ample headroom.
The project was delivered by integrator ARTO in collaboration with L-Acoustics Certified Provider XLR, with support from the L-Acoustics Applications team throughout design, installation, and calibration. The L-ISA Processor allows the venue to switch between immersive and stereo configurations, adapting to the artistic needs of each performance.
Louis Lukusa, CEO of XLR, said: “While the initial request was for a traditional stereo configuration, it became clear that the most meaningful choice was to invest in Hyperreal Sound. The L-Acoustics L Series system in an L-ISA configuration is the only solution that could provide uncompromising tonal balance, clarity, and realism for every seat in the hall.
“Soundvision is the key to success when designing this kind of project. Everything starts with it; it is the first and most important step in the L-Acoustics ecosystem. With our long experience in designing and installing L-Acoustics systems, we know we can rely on Soundvision – what we see is what we will hear.”
Aurore Aubouin, head of music at Bozar, added: “The new sound system is specifically designed to support Bozar’s non-classical music programming. This installation is also a strategic investment: by having our own permanent system, we no longer need to rely on renting equipment, allowing us to deliver the highest-quality experience to both artists and audiences.”
Bernus, from the L-Acoustics team, commented: “This new system transforms the way audiences experience music at Bozar. The L-ISA spatial audio technology allows us to create a truly frontal realistic soundscape where every detail of the performance is delivered with stunning clarity and depth.”
The installation received full support from the L-Acoustics Applications team, and Bozar’s technical staff undertook dedicated training at the L-Acoustics Education Centre to ensure full operational control.
Bozar and XLR are now preparing to extend the immersive experience to the venue’s Salle M, which is set to receive a 360° L-Acoustics A10 system early next year, creating a unified ecosystem of advanced sound technology across the cultural complex.
